I have created this website to help organise my own thoughts, and I've put them online in case it is useful to anyone else, and perhaps if I ever gather together enough material to be remotely interesting, to get some feedback and help.

In essence these are my thoughts on ways of significantly advancing civilisation.

I don't think it would be controversial to suggest that we still have a way to go before humanity is at its peak of civilisation, and to get there it is likely that some of the options we will have to take might sound fairly radical to us now. After all if they didn't, then the answers would seem obvious and we'd be living in a super- advanced society already. (I think it is likely that some solutions will seem obvious, but perhaps only in hindsight).

So what is advanced civilisation? To me it means allowing individuals and communities the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest potential, in ways that come at a minimal cost to others and to the natural world. Obvious stuff I think.

Progress is being made, but not fast enough - and we are not getting to root of many problems - only addressing the symptoms. I am pretty optimistic about the future, but we have to get our shit together...
